Winter Mountain Weekend- Snow and Sun!

Saturday was the start of a 2 day Winter Mountain Weekend with Prashant, Vivek and Abhya. Andy also came along to get some practice/ shadowing in before his Winter ML assessment. Prashant, originally from India and now living in Newcastle, has done a fair bit of trekking in the Himalaya but was keen whilst living here, to experience the famous Scottish mountains!
A lot of fresh snow down to sea level made sure the team were going to get the full Winter experience from the start. With a very windy forecast we decided not to try the Gondola on Aonach Mor and instead headed up to the North Face of the Ben. The snow chains for the car were tested a bit but we managed to get pretty close to the top car park before deciding to walk the final few hundred metres. A snowy but surprisingly windless walk in towards the CIC hut followed. We found a great patch of neve just before the hut and got cracking with the skills. On our way up we bumped into the team who'd been avalanched on the Curtain. We wish the injured chap a speedy recovery and remember to stay safe out there folks!

A bit of sliding fun learning ice axe arrest!

The Scottish mountains in Winter can be quite demanding, especially for those new to them. After quite a tiring day, Abhya decided to sit out for day two. I headed to Glencoe with Prashant and Vivek yesterday and we were treated to blue skies and sunshine! It's great for the guys to really see Scotland at it's best! We recapped on some of our skills from day 1 and headed up to Stob Dubh (958m) to enjoy some stunning views of the Lochaber peaks.

A really enjoyable couple of days with team and hopefully the start to some future adventures in the mountains!
